I can also reserve spaces in: Orange County, Long Beach, and farther south to San Diego.

Note that some areas with longer commute times may require travel fees, but I can still reserve incall spaces there.

In my humble opinion, the best thing about cryptocurrency is that governments and tech companies can’t directly seize it from us when they want to punish us for what we do or believe – that is, as long as you are holding it in a self-custodial wallet (as opposed to a centralized exchange).

Some basics:

The most popular concern is price fluctuation. This is why I suggest stablecoins like USDC, USDT or DAI. These are designed to stay $1 because they are pegged to the US dollar… Insert pegging joke here. You may also send me Bitcoin, ETH, or Solana, but stablecoins are most straightforward.

When you purchase cryptocurrency with fiat (on-ramping), there is often a holding period (up to 7 days) before you can transfer it out. Keep this in mind if you are planning to use it for either a deposit or the full investment. (Note: you may find a physical Bitcoin ATM to buy with cash, but they take large fees and may KYC depending on the amount.)

Where to buy? The only centralized exchange I personally recommend is Kraken (not available in some states). Coinbase has looong been known to freeze sex workers’ accounts – plus, they are in bed with the government. Gemini also froze my account years ago, at a time when I was getting media attention for my involvement in crypto.

On the other end are more decentralized, self-custodial wallets: you hold the keys, you are your own bank. Your security is entirely up to you. “Not your keys, not your coins” as they say – hold your money in your own wallet, and use exchanges only for on-ramping and off-ramping (and maybe a quick cross-chain swap).

Proton Wallet is a self-custodial wallet that also has an on-ramp mechanism. Others I can personally vouch for include Metamask, Rainbow, Phantom and Leather. Be sure to research which wallets are for different blockchains. Hardware wallets are another step up.

Keep your seed phrase completely secure and offline. Do not share it with anyone… (unless… of course… you hire me to be your financial advisor…)

Crypto is not truly anonymous – it is traceable on the public blockchain, and CEXes know who you are (another reason to avoid the feds of Coinbase).

If you are curious about privacy in crypto, look into Monero and the legal battle of Tornado Cash.
